We, the Farah Saeed Trust,volunteer our time to help increase engagement within the community, and help provide aid. To date we have visited the elderly and children care homes and cancer patients in hospitals. We have raised awareness on COVID-19 pandemic, donating blood, helped the homeless and responded to flood and food appeals. In addition, we have organised family fun days and events for all to participate in.
Volunteer work in the UK
COVID-19 pandemic - We responded by helping providing food for vulnerable families in Birmingham, fundraised for NHS charities together to provide medical aid and share information material from National Health Service (NHS), World Health Organisation (WHO) and Public Health England (PHE)
Keswick Gift Appeal - We collaborated with the Abrahamic Foundation and Assuffa Institute to organise an interfaith project with victims of the flooding where food and gifts were given out.
Helping the homeless - We collaborated with As-Suffa Outreach Walsall to provide packs to help promote mental well-being and personal hygiene. We have also organised food meals and given to public in Birmingham city centre.
Visit to cancer patients in hospitals - We have collaborated with Birmingham University Islamic Society and undertook a gift appeal where we invited the community to participate to gather gifts for cancer patients at Birmingham Childrens', Heartlands and Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Acorns Childrens' Hospice - We organised a bake sale for Acorns Children's Hospice.
Visit to elderly care homes - We organised a gift appeal called 'Spending Quality Time together' in 2014, 2015 and 2018for the community to participate where we visited Robert Harvey care home and spent time with them. We also participated in one of their annual Garden party events to promote cultural awareness. In addition, we visited an elderly jewish care home in 2017 where we collaborated with Aftabs with the same objective.
Organise fun day events: We organised a horse-riding event at Woodgate Valley Country Park and a family fun day in collaboration with Al-Falah Masjid.
Visit to children's care home and orphans - We collaborated with One Ummah charity where organised a gift appeal for orphans at Braymoor care home and Syrian refugees who fled the war.
Raising funds for cancer charities: We organised a poetry competition in conjunction with the spoken poet Abdul Karim titled Words of Inspiration and a mountain climb for Mount Snowdon raising funds for Cancer Research UK. We also organised a sponsored walk for Leukaemia and Lymphoma research charity otherwise known as Bloodwise. Other events were also organised for other charities.
Awareness of health conditions and donating blood: We held information stalls for Lupus UK and raised awareness donating blood.
Drug abuse and Domestic violence - We collaborated with Helping Hearts Foundation and Nour Domestic Violence respectively to raise awarenessand provide food.
Bashir Osman - He was an inspiring person who helped many in the community and died in a drowning accident in Switzerland. We organised a poetry competition titled Rhyme it up for Bash helping the public fundraising campaign, Thirst Relief to build water wells in Africa. A section was dedicated in Farah Magazine Issue 2 The Lost Giant. A football tournament, Kick it for Bash was organised in collaboration with AEC, Rising Stars and Bader Restaurant raising funds for Interpal.
Volunteer work in Albania
Farah Saeed Masjid - We built a masjid in Albania in collaboration with Rahma mercy and raised throughAn evening of Unity charity dinners, stalls, and other fundraising events. Please visit our event gallery and Youtube channel.
Earthquake Appeal - A magnitude of 5.8 earthquake has affected the people of Albania where many homes and people were injured especially in Durres and Tirana. We help by fundraising for Rahma Mercy to help provide blankets and food packs.
